Jewelry Care

Sterling Silver Jewelry

All of our silver jewelry is solid sterling silver ( 92.5% silver). Sterling silver naturally oxidizes as it reacts with the impurities in the air. To clean silver back to its shiny luster we recommend using a high quality sterling silver polishing cloth. If the polishing cloth doesn’t return your jewelry to its natural luster, we recommend a baking soda & distilled water solution. Approximately one cup of water to two tablespoons baking soda is the best ratio for the solution. We do not recommend the use of solutions, dips, or chemical cleaners. To avoid long-term damage to your sterling silver jewelry, remove your jewelry before using harsh chemicals like cleaning agents.

Avoid swimming in your jewelry, as chlorine and saltwater can be very harsh. When removing your jewelry, it is best to store in any type of air tight plastic bag. This way if your jewelry isn’t worn for long periods of time, it will not be exposed to the air’s impurities and will retain the shiny luster it had when you placed it in there originally.

14K Gold Jewelry

14k Gold Jewelry is the US standard in gold as it is ideal for the making of fine jewelry, while maintaining the balance of wearability and value. This karat of gold is comprised of 58.3% pure gold, balanced out with various alloys. This means that 14k gold jewelry does not show as many minor scratches from wear that the higher karats of gold do.14k gold jewelry is ideal for everyday wear, something that you do not have to worry about taking on and off multiple times a day. Our gold jewelry is solid 14k, so you do not have to worry about any type of plating coming off. This jewelry is something you can wear with confidence throughout your day.

14k Gold jewelry will not easily show any wear from swimming. However, for optimal product care, we still advise against swimming in pools, oceans, or hot tubs with any jewelry on, as gold is a precious metal that can react with chemical substances. Salt water does tend to be abrasive to jewelry as well.

Tungsten & Titanium Jewelry

Product care for tungsten jewelry is very minimal. Tungsten jewelry is the most wear resistant jewelry on the planet. Tungsten is known for being incredibly scratch resistant and for its hardness. This metal ranks a 9 out of 10 on MOH’s scale of hardness.  Avoid wearing your tungsten jewelry when swimming or coming in contact with harsh chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, or ammonia. Wash with gentle soap and water for maintenance if your band gets dirty.

Titanium is a very durable metal featured throughout our Men’s Ring Collection.Titanium does not change colors, however if there is any dirt built up, you can use gentle soap and water to clean. For titanium rings with an inlay be extra careful to avoid swimming in your jewelry. Harsh chemicals such as chlorine, bleach, and ammonia can cause damage to your jewelry.

Stainless Steel Jewelry

Stainless Steel is another metal featured throughout our Men’s Collection. It is durable metal that does not fade or turn colors, and it is very scratch resistant. Product care for stainless steel jewelry is minimal. Use a gentle soap with warm water to clean your stainless steel jewelry when it’s dirty. Do not wear Stainless Steel jewelry when swimming in the ocean or in pools. Remove your jewelry before cleaning with harsh chemicals, including ammonia and bleach.

Fashion Jewelry

As with all plated fashion jewelry, the durability of the plating will depend on how, and in which conditions, you wear it. Fashion jewelry pieces are not designed for every day wear. These should be the last pieces you put on and the first you take off when wearing your jewelry. It is also best to tuck your cherished item away from the open air when not wearing it, especially for long periods of time.

Keep your plated fashion jewelry away from water, pools, hot tubs, jewelry cleaners, silver cleaners, treated polishing cloths, perfumes, hairspray, lotions, hand-sanitizers, make up, and other chemicals or solvents that might damage the plating on the piece. Any of these items will damage the tarnish-resistant plating on the piece.
